As Mayor of the South Burnett Regional Council, I strongly believe that the South Burnett, as a region, has all that is necessary to ensure continued growth, both socially and economically.  My vision and direction are to maintain individual community identities whilst developing a culture of unity to drive the South Burnett region into the future.

Faster processing & lower costs for shed applications

A new application process will hasten and reduce the cost of applying to build a shed on vacant land in the rural area.

Since amalgamation there has been considerable discussion and disquiet in regard to building applications, especially for sheds.

At a Special Meeting of Council on 14th September, Mr Ken McLoughlin was appointed to the position of Chief Executive Officer of South Burnett Regional Council.

Crawford State School’s Centenary Celebrations

Congratulations to Crawford State School on completing 100 years of education and well done to all concerned for a fantastic day of celebrations on Saturday 8th October.  After a nasty morning storm, the skies cleared and a big crowd enjoyed the day.

In recent weeks it has been my pleasure to attend a number of School Speech Nights.  These special occasions are a great time to reflect on all the wonderful things that are happening in our schools.  Too often in the media it is the negative aspects that are reported.  Yet there are so many positive things happening – academically, culturally and in the sporting arena.

THE REAL WONDAI - in reply to an article in the Tweed Shire Echo.

As Mayor of the South Burnett Regional Council I have responded to a recent article that was published in the Tweed Shire Echo Newspaper and on their website. There has also been quite a lot of discussion about the article on facebook. A number of concerned Wondai residents have approached me about the negative content of this article and how it reflected badly on the town. Election Update                                            

I do intend standing again for the position of Mayor in the upcoming elections to be held on the 28th April 2012. I believe I have the proven skills, dedication, enthusiasm and extensive business and local government knowledge to take advantage of the financial stability and solid groundwork achieved over the past four years and lead the South Burnett towards a bright and prosperous future.  If elected again, I commit to ensuring that the region reaches its full potential.
